Rauner spends early in bid for Illinois governor

Herald & Review

Hedge-fund manager Bruce Rauner already has spent $749,205 for ad buys in June to help his case to be the GOP's gubernatorial candidate. The second highest amount spent? Just $15,599 by incumbent Gov. Pat Quinn for a poll.

Rauner is trying to establish his name, and he touts his experience as a private-equity CEO as a strength."It's time to bulldoze the dirt out of Springfield, wreck the big-spending status quo and level the job-killing tax code," Rauner says in one ad that highlights the state's economy.
